Yesterday marked one month til Baby Eberle’s due date! I’ll be 36 weeks tomorrow…and can hardly believe it. This weekend was filled with yard work, nursery projects, and the sweetest little shower hosted by the gals from my bible study.
Blue, yellow, and elephants made for a precious theme (and was a sweet personal reminder of my Poppa Burton, who had a special affinity for elephants). I loved showing off my mommas and sisters — and it was so nice for them to meet some of the amazing women that make up my church family.
Baby Eberle was certainly spoiled…and so were our taste buds!
A highlight was these advice cards, personalized by all the shower guests. Some were funny, some were tear-jerkers, and all were keepsakes.
Here’s how we did during Week 35:
Baby’s size: Gaining about a 1/2 pound per week between now about the big birth day, Baby is somewhere around 6 pounds and 20 inches!
What’s keeping Baby busy: Gettin’ smarter and smarter. Baby’s brain development is in a rapid state right now. Oh, and although his or her space is getting tighter as Baby grows, the wiggles haven’t stopped. Watching my belly bump shift from side to side has become one of our favorite after-dinner activities. This little one is mighty active!
What’s keeping Mom and Dad busy: We wrapped up our prenatal classes with Infant CPR. Whew, scary stuff! I know the likelihood of us ever needing it is small…but I almost burst into tears practicing on my dummy doll. Adam was much more level-headed. Thank goodness for balance!
Cravings: Fruit, fruit, and more fruit!
Struggles: Checking off the to-do list! We still need to select a pediatrician, pack our hospital bag, type up a delivery day “wish list” for the OB, order prints of our maternity pictures, etc. Plus, I’ve committed to a number of writing projects that need some major TLC before the little one arrives. It’ll all get done (this is God’s timing, as we know!), but the slow progress is a bit of a stressor.
Joys: As we’re getting closer to the big day, friends and family are starting to put in their final gender bets. Erin and Haley have predicted a boy since we announced we were expecting. Others have tottered back and forth. I’m still waiting for my intuition to kick in…I don’t have a gut feel one way or the other! A favorite blogger of mine, A Cup of Jo, wrote a fun post today about 12 old wives tales to determine baby’s gender. The quiz and Chinese Gender Chart predicted boy — I’ll have to try the others too! One thing is certain: We’re still SO glad we’ve saved this surprise.
Sooo….tell us! What’s your pick: Baby girl or baby boy? Post a comment and let us know!

Baby Eberle is a boy! I know this because your grandmother had 10 granddaughters. My grandmother had 5 granddaughters, and we have collectively produced 7 boys and 1 girl. In your family, it is time for a generation of boys!
I have said all along that a sweet lil’ Lauren would be awesome. But a handsome sweet lil’ Adam would also be great. Which ever one he/she will be a doll baby.
