Drumroll please: We’re 100 days away from our due date! It almost takes my breath away to realize how soon we’ll get to meet our little boy or little girl. What an adventure we have ahead of us!
Speaking of adventures…Baby and I spent some time at the good ole’ Mecklenburg County Courthouse this week. Yep, I had jury duty and was placed on a trial. Considered somewhat of an inconvenience for most…jury duty while 25 weeks pregnant is, well, not very pleasant. Thankfully the courthouse was gorgeous, and the juror suite offered plenty of amenities We made do and sweet Adam even came downtown to join us for lunch each day.
Here’s a rundown of how we’re doing at Week 25:
Baby’s size: The growth spurt is on, and size at this stage ranges from 13 to 15 inches and about 1.5 to 2.5 pounds.
What’s keeping Baby busy: He or she is enjoying a new sense of equilibrium, the books tell us, which means Baby now knows which way is up or down. Those cheeks are getting chubbier, and we may have some hair growth too!
What’s keeping Mom and Dad busy: Between Dad working in the yard and Mom doing her civic duty, we didn’t accomplish much on the baby front this week. Of course, today’s 100-day marker kick-started our oh-my-word-we-still-have-lots-to-do-ness… PLUS, we set a date for our dear friend Shea to come shoot maternity photos — many of which will take place at our home and in the nursery. Better get cracking!
Cravings: Strawberries…cereal…dark chocolate…milk…avocados…hard-boiled eggs.
Struggles: My soccer-ball-sized bump is starting to make everyday tasks a little precarious. Simple things like loading and unloading the dryer take a bit longer as squatting/standing/squatting isn’t as speedy of a process anymore. I’ve also given up on comfortably painting my toenails.
Joys: The generosity of our friends and family continues to wow us. This precious one is already so loved…and the steady flow of cards, gifts, and well-wishes is mighty humbling. Thank you, dear ones. Thank you.

I just LOVE these updates. And, I got to see Josh and LIz today, but not the baby. By the way-Where was the baby? But, It’s all soooo exciting. I was thinking that if it was a girl that “Mary Beth” was such a great name!! Incorporates two “really” wonderful people!!!!!!
“Mary Beth”…. love the thought….
Lauren, you glow with happiness! If there was an award for “the best parents while baby is in-vitro”…you both would win. You and Adam are putting so much love into all aspects of your lives. The nursery is looking precious and the two of you are so trim and fit! Your treadmill workouts and Adam’s amazing 1/2 marathon mentoring sure has kept the two of you in shape for a BABY! I can’t wait to meet my Grand-cherub!
