Early on in my pregnancy I told Adam how much I hoped someone would give Baby Eberle a handmade blanket. You can imagine how absolutely delighted we were to get our wish — 9 times over!
It warms our hearts to know that while precious Claire was still being formed, loved ones throughout the country were creating these heirloom treasures. Over the years these blankets are sure to be well-used…from offering comfort during thunderstorms to becoming the walls of playtime forts. One thing is certain: Claire will always be wrapped in love.
This quilt was a gift from Ashley and Bryan Leath, our dear friends in Birmingham. The Leaths created the design, which was hand-printed in Australia and hand-sewn by Katie Bowlby. Read more on their blog.

This blankie was a gift from Mary Sue Johnson, Grandma Margie’s sister, who also made Claire a few matching washcloths. It’s incredibly soft!
This gift from Wendy Rippey was Claire’s very first quilt, given to us early in the summer. Wendy designed it based on our nursery colors, gray and navy. It’s a perfect match and we love the lively fabrics!
Claire’s Great Grandma Bobbi began sewing this quilt in December when we announced we were expecting. Our July due date inspired the beautiful red, white, and blue color scheme.
This chevron blanket is from Stewart Swing (Adam’s best friend growing up) and his girlfriend, Jennifer Wilborne. Jennifer, a nurse, had a dear co-worker knit it in our nursery theme.
Myra Shelton, our sweet neighbor in Winston-Salem, knitted this snow white blanket for Claire. It was accompanied by one pink cap and one blue cap for Baby Eberle to wear in the hospital!
This yellow and green blanket was knitted by Aunt Patsy Hissem! This is an especially thoughtful gift because it matches one she made when Adam was a baby.
This minky gray blanket was made by Aunt Karen Drongowski, and was part of a precious handmade sleepover kit that included a book, bunny, bath wash, toothbrush, swaddle, toothbrush, and PJ bag.
Lastly, this patterned blanket was made by Jane Bartel, a friend from our Winston-Salem church, and came with a pretty coordinating pillow.
We can’t express our gratitude enough for these generous offerings of time and talent. Thank you, dear ones. Thank you!
