The new year is here! (Weren’t we just celebrating the start of summer?) The final few weeks went by in a flash, filled with Woodland Fairy and Auntie Haley camps. Woodland Fairy Camp was a hit — the teachers loved Claire and Claire loved the fairy-themed adventures. She met a few friends, found a moth (and promptly named him Tick Tock), and got super dirty. It was grand.
The last few weeks of Auntie Haley Camp were the highlight of the summer, though, as Haley spoiled the girls with hours of playtime, art, movies, and ice cream dates. The girls truly bonded with sweet Haley (Claire cried and cried the day she left!), and Mom and Dad even got date nights out of the deal. We’d keep Haley year-round if we could, but there are dozens of middle schoolers who need her more. (We love you, sis. Thank you!!!)
And now it’s September and we’re delighted to be back at Sonshine for the 4-year-old program! Claire’s last “first” day of preschool (I’m not crying, you’re crying!) was filled with fun. She started with a special breakfast (pancakes with sprinkles, in a princess dress of course), smiled for a great first day photo (she wanted a second day picture today, too), and then it was go time. Claire ran into her classroom without hesitation (thanks, Ms. Amanda and Ms. Vicky), and came home with stories of new friends and new art supplies. She was selected to be the American Flag Holder (which I learned is nearly as prestigious as Line Leader) and enjoyed having spinach in her lunch (it’s the small things).
We find it funny that Claire doesn’t recall much about the 2-year-old program at Sonshine (not even the fabulous playground!) — but we’re grateful that she’s such an easygoing kiddo. It’ll be a great year!

My precious Claire,
The world of wonder awaits! God has great plans for you, I am sure.
