Precious Cora, happy FOUR MONTHS (plus two weeks now…oops)! You are growing and changing so quickly these days — and we’re having a blast watching your precious personality appear. You’re a smiley, easy-going baby, which makes you such a perfect fit for our wild (ahem, Claire!) family.
Your fourth month was filled with Christmas, New Years, a long weekend in the mountains, and your first snow! We’re fairly certain you’ve started teething, as everything seems to make its way into your drooly mouth — toys, blankets, hands, clothes. We remember it taking Claire many months of this before the first tooth cut through, so we’re along for the ride.
Weight: 14 pounds, 6.5 ounces
Length: 25 inches
Eating
During the daytime, we’re still nursing every two to three hours. That seems frequent, but Mommy doesn’t mind it because you get your calories in during the day and give us long stretches of sleep at night. You’ve gotten pretty good at taking breastmilk bottles, and are starting to seem super curious about “real” food and drink. We cannot wait to introduce you to solids at six months. We’re getting close!
Sleeping
All in all, you’re an amazing sleeper — but every night is different, and we never know what we’re going to get 🙂 Part of the difference between you and Claire is that we kept your big sister up later at this age. Since we didn’t have a bigger kid to juggle, too, she’d start her night at 9 p.m. For you, bedtime begins at 6:30, and you’ll typically sleep from 7 p.m. til around 5 a.m. (On weekdays this works well for Mommy and Daddy, as that’s the time we’re usually up to work out.) Some nights, though, you’ll opt to wake at 1 a.m. — but no matter the time, you’re usually easy to put back to sleep and will stay in your crib til Big Sister wakes at 7:30 a.m.
During the day you take 3 or 4 naps, varying from 30 minutes to 2 hours. Mommy wants to get you in a better routine, but we aren’t quite there yet. One thing I adore is that you tend to sleep just like Claire did — with one arm crossed over your head and sweet baby eyes. Sometimes, though, you’ll fall asleep mid-playtime — clearly the cutest thing ever…
Playing
We’ve been trying out the Bumbo and the walker, but you need a little more “core” sitting-up strength before you’ll tolerate those for an extended time. These days your play consists of more activity mat time — you still love grabbing at and “singing” to the toys. You haven’t started to roll yet (you aren’t as big of a fan of tummy time as Claire was), but Mommy and Daddy aren’t rushing you! After rolling comes crawling, and we’re in no hurry for our little lady to grow that fast.
You’re loving…
sneaking peeks at your sister’s cartoons, Mommy and Daddy, Sophie the giraffe, outside time, Pinot kitty, and pulling hair.
You’re hating…
the car seat (who blames you?), the cough/cold you’ve had for a few weeks, and getting your nails trimmed.
Your big sister…
cannot get enough of you, Cora! She loves snuggling up beside you and saying “take our picture!” She doesn’t like for you to cry, and is determined to diagnose the issue whenever you do, saying: “She’s starving!” She has a big poo-poo!” “She wants to watch a movie with me!”
The coming weeks will be filled with excitement as you cut your first tooth, learn to roll, and eventually sit up. But as second-time parents, Daddy and I now know how quickly you’ll grow. So slow down, sweet pea — these baby days super sweet. We love you, Cora Katherine!
Hugs & Kisses,
Mommy & Daddy

I love this, sweet baby, Cora Katherine!!
Cora, you spent a day at my home this week while your mom was at work. It was a very special time for both of us. You are so snuggly, cuddly, and sweet!
